Holistic, Not Hocus Pocus: What Modern Holistic Skincare Should Mean
The Problem With “Holistic” Skincare Marketing
The beauty industry has reached an interesting place. On one side, you have highly clinical med spas focused almost entirely on aggressive treatments and quick fixes. On the other, you have wellness spaces making promises that sound more spiritual than scientific.
Somewhere in the middle, the word holistic got lost.
Today, almost everyone markets themselves as holistic, organic, natural, clean, or wellness-focused — including many med spas. But in reality, a lot of those businesses still operate from a very symptom-focused, procedure-heavy approach. Adding organic products or a calming atmosphere does not automatically make something holistic.
To us, holistic skincare means something much more grounded.
What Holistic Skincare Should Actually Mean
Holistic skincare means recognizing that the skin does not function independently from the rest of the body. Stress levels, inflammation, hormones, sleep quality, nervous system regulation, nutrition, and skin barrier health all influence how the skin behaves. You cannot fully separate the face from the person attached to it.
That perspective is holistic. It is also common sense.
Unfortunately, the term has become associated with vague wellness language, fear-based marketing, or practices that lack scientific support. That is exactly what we are trying to move away from.
We believe in holistic skincare — but not hocus pocus.

Science-Based Holistic Skincare vs. “Woo Woo” Wellness
Our approach is rooted in evidence-based esthetics, science-backed skincare, and long-term skin health. We believe clean beauty and clinical results can exist together. We believe organic skincare should still perform. And we believe clients deserve honest guidance that promote overall health instead of quick fixes.
There is a growing misconception that consumers must choose between effective skincare and natural skincare. Either you go fully clinical and aggressive, or you enter a world of trendy wellness language where everything is described as “healing energy” and “vibrational.” We do not believe either extreme serves clients particularly well.
Modern holistic skincare should feel intelligent, intentional, and results-driven.
That means understanding the biology of the skin while also respecting the larger systems that affect it. If someone is experiencing chronic inflammation, recurring breakouts, or sensitivity, we are not interested in simply attacking symptoms as aggressively as possible. We want to understand what may be contributing to the issue in the first place.
Why We Take a Whole-Body Approach to Skin Health
For example, acne is rarely just about surface oil. Hormonal fluctuations, chronic stress, sleep deprivation, inflammation, poor gut health/diet, and impaired barrier function can all contribute to persistent breakouts. Likewise, premature aging is not simply about wrinkles. Skin aging is influenced by inflammation, environmental exposure, muscle overuse, stress hormones, collagen loss, hydration, and overall skin function.
A holistic approach means acknowledging those connections instead of pretending the skin exists in isolation.
Healthy Skin Barrier = Better Long-Term Results
There is also a difference between supporting the skin and constantly forcing the skin into a state of stress.
Many people come to us after years of over-exfoliation, overly harsh treatments, or chasing trends that compromised their skin barrier in the name of “results.” The irony is that healthier skin often creates better cosmetic results long-term. Skin that is calm, resilient, hydrated, and functioning properly tends to age better, heal better, and respond better to treatment.
That is why we focus on treatments and products that support skin integrity, reduce unnecessary inflammation, and create sustainable improvements over time.
Organic Skincare Should Still Deliver Results
When we say we value organic skincare, we do not mean ineffective skincare.
We are highly intentional about ingredients, formulations, and product quality. We care about reducing unnecessary irritants and supporting overall wellness, but we also care about performance. Clients should not have to sacrifice visible results in order to choose cleaner products.
All of our Dandle products were created with a lab that specializes in clean beauty and tested by our estheticians before being finalized, so we can send you home with products we use in our own skincare routines. Our organic clinical facial uses Elina Organics, a skincare line so clean “you can eat it.” The results we’ve seen from this line are incredible! A huge upgrade from our former clinical line in both ingredient safety and effectiveness.
We believe educated choices matter. Ingredient quality matters. Nervous system health matters. Stress management matters. Sleep matters. Barrier health matters. But we also believe in practicality, moderation, and science.

The Future of Modern Holistic Esthetics
That balance is what modern holistic esthetics should look like.
Clients today are becoming more informed and more discerning. Many are looking for treatments that feel luxurious and wellness-oriented without losing credibility or effectiveness. They want results-driven skincare in an environment that still feels calming, restorative, and intentional.
That is exactly the space we aim to occupy.
Not overly clinical. Not overly mystical.
Just thoughtful, science-based holistic skincare designed to support healthy skin in a realistic, sustainable way.
